I am no longer shaving or buzzing my hair, but I look fondly back on the experience. It was a fun time in my live, living as a nearly bald woman. It was extremely low-maintenance, a mark of my self-confidence, and also a bit of a sociological experiment every time I went in public. Therefore, I have decided to resurrect the page that chronicles my last buzzcut, on April 3, 2003. Every woman should shave her head once!
Me before. A bit too much hair, and a bit too tired to be taking pictures.
The buzzcut begins!
The clippers have laid waste to a swath of hair.
And so it progresses...
Oh no, am I trying for a...
...mohawk? Apparently. Mental note: never do a mohawk again.
My favorite shot. You may have noticed the "GIRLS STUDENT RESTROOM" sign. I stole that sign in 1998 from my undergraduate university because it was sexist in comparison with the "STUDENT RESTROOM--MEN" sign across the hall. It serves to remind me of the sometimes subtle ways in which women are still treated unequally.
